January – February
Thai Poosam Cavadee · தைப்பூசம் காவடி
Ten days of fasting followed by the cavadee procession to the kovil. A public holiday in Mauritius.
February – March
Maha Sivaratri · மகா சிவராத்திரி
The night of Sivan, kept with vigil and prayer in kovils across the island.
April
Tamil New Year — Puthandu · புத்தாண்டு
The Tamil new year, marked with the kanni viewing and family meals.
May – June
Canjee · கஞ்சி
The rice-porridge offering shared at the kovil, one of the most communal observances of the year.
July – August
Aadi Perukku · ஆடிப் பெருக்கு
The Aadi month festival of water and of married couples.
